Great present from Meng

Just what I have always wanted. A dog to hump my USB port! Thanks Meng!

Trip to the Kiama markets

On Sunday we all piled in the car early to check out the Kiama Black Beach Markets. As usual they where great. I even managed to get Mum a birthday present!

After the markets we headed to Kendalls Beach. It took a little bit to get used to the water, but once we where in it was very warm :)

Of course a trip to Kiama wouldnt be complete without a trip to the Blowhole. Due to the swell and the rough ocean, the blowhole was really going off!

The rest of the pictures are here.

It's begining to look a lot like...

Well it's nearly that time of year again. On the weekend when we where in the city we stopped off the see the Martin Place Christmas Tree.

I remember visiting this when I was a kid, so they have been putting a tree in Martin Place for a number of years now.

Not long till Santa comes :)

I made it!

4097 I can't believe it I made it! I rode my bike (well it was my brothers bike actually) 90km from St Peters in Sydney to Wollongong!

It was the perfect day for a long ride, not too hot, not too cold. I started with a bunch of friends from work about 8am and finished about 3pm.

My favourite bits? The fast downhill parts in the National Park and the finish line.

My not so favourite bits? The hills :(

It was a great day and I am already thinking about next year.

Leon looking for Aunty Nange

Here is a video of my nephew being as cute as a button! He got a bit confused and couldnt find Aunty Nanage. Then he plants a big sloppy kiss on the camera!

Is it Art?

4055So there has been a lot of art around my building lately. We even had some Tanks ( See the awesome pictures taken by Ted )

Well just around the corner from where the Tanks used to be is some kind of faked solar system.

Is it art? Well I don't know, but at least is adds some interest :)

Telstra uses QR codes

So I am watching my new favourite video podcast this morning, Epic Fu (with Zadi) and they had a bit on QR Codes.

I thought, I have seen one of those before, and sure enough Telstra is using them to advertise the new Baz Luhrmann flick, Australia

All you need is a reader that works with your mobile phone, I use Kaywa Reader. Then start it up and point it at the QR Code. This will then be converted into a link, in this case to BigPond TV

Cool huh!

Back from holidays

We all just got back from a week away in Queensland. We had such a good time. Auntie Ang has a new house that over looks the beach so we spent most of the time walking to the beach. She also has a pool that got the most use I think it has seen in a long time.

Harrison spend his birthday in Queensland this year and I really think he enjoyed it.

See all the pictures here.

My first excursion

3971 On Wednesday I took the day off work and attended my first school excursion as a parent helper.

We headed into the city for Science in the City. First we had a talk from Dr Karl, he talked about awareness and space. (very cool, the kids loved the count the basketball video, see it below)

Next we headed off to talk about bugs. We had a great talk from some insect guys who work at the Australian Museum.

After that we had some time to explore the Museum in small groups. If was great to see the kids so eager to learn new stuff.

After that it was time for lunch and then back on the bus to head home. A great day was had by all. Next up I will need to attend one of Matthews excursions.

Some new videos

Here are a few quick videos. This weekend the wind was so strong that we took the kite out for another fly. We really didn't have to try that hard to get it up nice and high.

And here is a nice quick video of us all tobogganing at Perisher. I have so much video to edit over the next few weeks!

Back from the snow

346436893697So we are back and we had a blast! Canberra was great. We visited Parliament House, Questacon, Telstra Tower, The Australian National Museum and the War Memorial.

Yeah all that was OK, but the real fun? THE SNOW

393839353932388738843830380637943763We spend two full days at Perisher. I will let all the photos speak for themselves. We all had so much fun, and at the end of each day going to sleep was very easy.

So we are home now and the boys are back to school tomorrow (they really aren't looking forward to it!)

I still have a week off! Yeah! :)

Its nearly holiday time!

The Sydney Apple Store is open

3355Wow what a rush. Tonight I went to the new Apple Store. I left work at about 4.45pm and headed over to George Street. What I saw was simply amazing. The queue spread from the front door to the QVB. I decided to head back to the front of the store to watch it open then head home and go tomorrow. What happened next was great! One of the security guards shuffled me to into the queue. It was an accident (I promise), but I kinda jumped the queue!! What is a Mac nerd to do own up to it, or get into the store at 5.05pm? Guess what I did :)

The highlight of the night? This guy approaches the genius bar and gets out a Mac Portable and asks for assistance! Classic!

The other highlights, a free shirt and the buzz from the staff (lots of hi 5s!) I am going to go every day for a while I think...

MS Fun Run

I survived! I didn't think I was going to make the full 8km, but I did. 3256Lucky for all of us involved the rain stayed away. Tim ran with me for the first 2km and then he ran off (I didn't expect him to stay with me the whole way)

One thing this fun run did have was lots and lots of hills. The silver lining to that was that the last km was all downhill :)

I am glad I did it, I am now looking for the next run. City to surf maybe?

The rest of the pictures are here.

We also took the new kite for a fly at the beach.

Check out the pictures here.

Just a walkin the dog

We went to the park today and took Vinney with us. She is very hard to walk sometime, she nearly takes your arm out of the socket at times!

Both of the boys had a turn trying to walk her. She is such a good girl, she didn't try and run once today.

Awesome Kite

3159Aunty Ang just had a holiday in Bali and as always when she has a holiday she came back with presents for the kids.

Check out the great kite she found! It is shaped like a giant ship. Unfortunately there is no wind today :(

Hopefully tomorrow we can take it for a test flight.

Adventure Ride

3153Matthew is getting a lot more confidence when it comes to riding his bike. So this weekend we were able to go for a much bigger ride.

Near our house is a creek. There is a nice path around it. We found an old concrete path through the middle of the creek. The water is low enough at the moment so we crossed it.

3156It really is a nasty old creek up close (lots of trash and shopping trolleys in it) but if you don't focus on that and if the sun is in just the right spot, I think it looks kinda nice!

Easter Show 2008

Yesterday we braved the weather and headed to the Easter show. The weather kept the crowds down which was great!3060 We checked out the fruit displays and the cakes (yum!) I wonder what happens to these works or art once the show is over? I hope someone eats them.3072We headed over to the woodchopping to see the ladies (Trudy wanted to check!) compete.3081After that it was time for lunch and the lunch time show. Lots of cars going fast and motorbikes doing tricks.3102Then off the see the animals. Trudy wants a cow for the house, but I don't think we have the room!3114After that we had a ride and then it was time to head home. It was a big day but lots of fun! The rest of the photos are here.

WCCS Fair Day

On Saturday Harrison and Matthews School had a Fair Day. The school was open for all to attend with plenty of things to do.3012The kids got to have some rides and Mum and Dad got to look at the stalls. Trudy and I spent about 2 hours early in the morning helping set up, cooking and getting the food ready. 3039Both the kids also had a item to do and they where both great! (As always!)3042A great day was had by all. The rest of the photos are here.

Mum and Dad Celebrate 60 years of birth

2958On the weekend Mum and Dad celebrated there birthdays together. Trudy, the boys and I worked hard all day to clean up the church hall and get ready.

It was great to see so many people I hadn't seen in over 10 years. I had to introduce myself to Stephen Low twice! (Last time I saw him he was tiny and had blonde hair!)

2973The big concern I had was a speech I had to give. I am still getting over my fear of speaking in public. I wrote it out and practised it a bit and when it was time to give it, I felt OK. (I even got a few laughs)2985Then it was time for cake. We got the largest one we could get and got a picture of Mum and Dad printed on it. Everyone wanted to cut up a bit and eat the guests of honour.2982A great night was had by all!

Day in Kiama

So yesterday we worked hard all day cleaning and doing house work, when we woke on Sunday morning the day looked great! We decided that more housework was out of the question. So we all piled into the car and headed to Kiama.

We stopped off at the blowhole and unlike the last time we went this time it was going off!

After looking at the shops we headed to Gerroa for some lunch with Amanda, Luke and Lynda. What a fantastic place for a club. Right on the top of the hill looking over Seven Mile Beach.

Finally we headed off to Gerringong for a swim in the rockpool and then a very tired family headed back home.

Slap Corey

By now I am sure you have all heard about this tool called Corey. He decided to have a party, invite a stack of tools (like 500 of em) Of course the behavior got out of control, the cops got called etc.

Now in most cases that is where the story would end, but this guy is some kind of media whore, front page of the newspaper and on the telly. The funniest bit of media I read was all about him not being famous enough to get on Wikipedia.

Now comes the greatest flash game ever!

Slap Corey. Go on you know you want to!
